Fiber laser metal cutting technology is preffered by our customers due to its exellent cost per hour advantages and cutting speed. Carbon (CO2) laser cutting machines have a much higher operating cost and require ongoing maintenance. Fiber lasers provide a very strong advantage in energy consumption using up to 70% less energy compared to CO2 lasers, not to mention the very low maintenance required to keep the machine running strong for very long periods of time. The advantage of NUKON BG fiber laser machines is quite large when energy and cost savings are so important. Fiber technology does not need gas to generate the laser like the CO2, it generate the laser directly from diodes. Fiber lasers also have almost no reflection to deal with. It can easily cut materials which are hard or impossible for CO2 that have high reflection such as copper, bronze, brass and aluminium. The laser resonator life of a CO2 laser is around 20 thousand hours, in fiber this number can raise as high as 100 thousand hours. Fiber lasers have virtually no maintenance and service costs aside of surface cleaning. With a CO2 laser beam quality can differ depending on the cleanliness of the mirrors. With a fiber laser the beam quality does not change and it can maintain this quality over 50 meters with no power loss.
